New Milford FD gets a new water rescue Boat.

Yesterday, the New Milford Fire Department took delivery of a 2023 Sea Ark 1660 MVT 16’ tunnel hull boat for flood and rescue operations. This acquisition came at a zero dollar cost to borough taxpayers thanks to the Department’s aggressive grant writing program. This boat was purchased through a NJ State Legislative Grant supported by state Senator Joe Lagana.

Since 2014 the NMFD’s grant writing program has brought in $2mil dollars for updating aging fire department equipment and apparatus.

Thanks to the Mayor and Councils present and past for their support and assistance with these projects.

Triboro Fire Call in Oradell, NJ.

Chief 30 and Engine Co. 34 responded to the family town earlier today for a reported kitchen fire that was quickly extinguished. New Milford units were on scene for under 30 minutes before returning to the borough.

Happening Now! Tri-Boro units operating in the 700 block of Ridgewood Avenue for a kitchen fire. The fire is out and there are no injuries.

New Milford FD responds to mutual aid in Emerson.

Last week the Chiefs and Engine co. 34 responded to the borough of Emerson for a working fire. Engine Co. 34 provided coverage for the borough before being redirected to the scene. The company was tasked with hitting hot spots and overhaul. New Milford units operated for just over 2 hours before being released back to New Milford.

Our hearts go out to the Newark Fire Department and the families of the 2 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while battling a fire aboard a car carrier ship in Port Newark late last night. These firefighters fought a courageous battle in high heat and near 0 visibility. Rest Easy Brothers.

Today our department along with the Triboro companies participated in the annual Oradell and River Edge 4th of July parades.

congratulations to Engine 4 of REFD Co. 2 on its last parade. Engine 4 has been serving the community of River Edge since 1995 and it’s replacement will be here within the month.

Fun fact our Engine 32 (1993 Mack) is the oldest apparatus still in service as a front line piece in the Triboro.

Triboro Box Assignment

A Triboro box assignment was transmitted for a reported basement fire in the 200 of Milford ave. this morning. Companies were met with smoke at the front door and it was determined to be coming from a water heater in the basement. The fire was extinguished with two dry chem extinguishers and a water can. The appliance was disconnected and removed from the home. Public Service was requested to the scene and the home was turned back over to the Homeowner.

Saturday evening Engine 34, Deputy 302 and Chief 30 attended Emerson’s annual fireworks. Our members provided area coverage during the firework show.

Fire Departments come together

Over the weekend members from our FD attended a rally parade in nearby Dumont. Deputy 302 and Engine 34 joined the Dumont Fire Department and departments from all over the county to rally for Ryu. Ryu is a young Dumont boy who is suffering from long term battle with brain cancer and loves all type of emergency vehicles.

This was the least we could do for him. That’s what it’s all about, giving back to our communities. We hope this helped you smile a little bit more Ryu. keep up your courageous fight little man!

Fire CO2 Driver and Pump Training

This past Sunday members of Fire Company 2 conducted driver and pump training with new drivers on the ladder truck and engine. Member were at Hard Castle Pond practicing pumping water to the ladder truck and aerial operations.

Full house last week at Company 1. During last weeks drill members from Company 1 participated in their biennial CPR recertification class and test. Members demonstrated how to successfully apply CPR to adults, children and infants. The use of our AED (automated external defibrillators) and how to check for choking.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is one of our most important tools in our arsenal. We don’t just train on it for our own safety but the residents of New Milford or any call we may come up on.

Back during late 2017 it was applied to one of our own who suffered a medical emergency while in route to a routine call. The quick thinking of our members along with this training helped prolong this members life.
